Health and Safety Training Week
Annual Health and Safety Training Week set to begin April 20, 2009 coordinates the delivery of as many as 20 different Health and Safety Training opportunities delivered in several classroom style venues over a one week time period. The Committee encourages all Member Companies in identify internal training needs early in the year and contact the Association with the information. The Committee then promotes the need with others to build efficient class sizes, coordinates timing and delivery as required and completes Records of Training.

Annual One Day Health and Safety Seminar
Organized for February 18, 2009 in partnership with the Construction Safety Association of Ontario, the seminar features individual and plenary sessions led by various Health and Safety professionals that deal with emerging Construction H&S issues and topics. Aimed at on-sight supervisors and those employees in your Company who are responsible for H&S policy and practice implementation.

Health and Safety Awards
Annual Health and Safety Awards are open to application from All Member Companies. The process includes evaluation and review and analysis of an applicant's Health and Safety Policy, programs, procedures and experience by CSAO staff. For finalists CSAO conducts a site visit to audit performance. As an added feature all applicants can receive a confidential evaluation of their application following the Awards in January of 2009 to identify potential areas for improvement.

New Worker Identification Program
We know that new workers to our Industry are especially at risk for injury. Employers can receive at no charge from the Committee a specially painted hard-hat that will help identify their new workers as being inexperienced and encourage all those on site to help them safely through the first few weeks on the job.

Construction Specific Health and Safety Orientation
Currently the Committee is planning for these events as well as delivering on a regular basis the Construction Specific Health and Safety Orientation. Following endorsement by all major local owner clients, several hundred local workers have been through this four hour session and efforts are underway to coordinate the delivery of this key program in area High schools as well as the College to our potential new workers.
